SPECIAL SESSION
The Conference will be initiated by a Special Session “Tools for identification of main sources of underground water contamination”. During the session the following advanced technical and operational tools will be presented:

  • application of passive sampling in contamination assessment of water environment,
  • integral groundwater investigation (Integral Pumping Tests),
  • environmental forensics and isotopic fingerprinting,
  • backtracking and contaminant transport modelling,
  • gnostics and statistics,
  • environmental and health risk assessment.

PARTICIPANTS
We welcome academia, R&D units, state and private organizations as well as local governments involved in the process of revitalization of degraded areas, particularly post-industrial sites, i.e. local and regional authorities, site owners, companies dealing with soil and groundwater remediation and land reclamation, construction companies, experts, consultants, financial institutions, and insurance companies from Poland and abroad.
A detailed agenda will be sent to participants by 9 September 2011.

The conference will be held in the town of Ustroń, located in the heart of the Silesian Beskids, at the end of a mountainous part of the Vistula valley, between Równica and Czantoria hills. It is a well-known health resort and a holiday destination. Picturesque landscape, long tourist trails and healthy climate attract tourists, health resort patients, holiday-makers, as well as lovers of mountain sports and fishing.

LANGUAGE
The conference will be held in Polish and English.

CONFERENCE MATERIALS AND MONOGRAPH
Papers will be reviewed. Abstracts will be published in a conference brochure, full texts will be disseminated on a CD. After the conference the papers will be approved by the Scientific Program Committee and published in the monograph: “Innovative Solutions for Revitalization of Degraded Areas”.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
The term of sending full texts was extended up to 30th of August 2011.
